Vestibular Rehabilitation
The University Community Hospital Vestibular Rehabilitation program is designed to address patients with vestibular dysfunction. The vestibular rehabilitation is a restorative program of graded exercises and activities designed to enhance the adaptation within the vestibular system and promote alternative strategies for balance and vestibular function.  After the assessment, the therapist will develop exercises to improve postural control and decrease positional and movement related dizziness.  Occupational Therapy may be recommended to assess the need for adaptive equipment, alternative methods of performing daily living tasks such as feeding, bathing, dressing and transfers, and the need for a home assessment.

The program goals include: maximizing compensation of the central nervous system to reduce dizziness, restore balance, educate patients in the etiology of dizziness and offer coping strategies to assist in dealing with the vestibular problem.
